Holisy: a name that listens

Designing my own brand meant treating myself like a client. I wanted the name and the mark to say how I work, not just who I am.

The Holisy Design logomark

The brief

A name and a mark for my own one-person studio, working with clients in Slovak and English. It had to capture who I am and what I value.

The name

  1. "Isy" is my nickname. Read it as "I see you": I listen to the client first.

  2. "Hol" comes from my surname, Holek. Together: Holisy.

  3. Holis(y)tic. The name hides the way I like to design: the whole picture, not one screen.

Holisy sounds almost the same in Slovak and English, which makes it easy to remember and to find.

From sketch to mark

Construction drawing of the logomark built from circles and lines
The logomark outline placed on a layout grid
The logomark on a fine grid, with its rounded strokes filled in

The result

The final mark shows me as a solo designer with my laptop, in a clean, sharp style and plain black.
